It looks like it’s going to be another hot one today, so we recommend heading over to Lafayette Reservoir if you want some shade, fresh air, and a place for your family to play. They have plenty of benches around the reservoir where people can sit back and relax while they watch their children enjoy themselves at the playground or exploring nearby trails. There is also parking available near the entrance off Mount Diablo Boulevard which makes getting here easy from all parts of the city.

It only takes about 15 minutes to drive here from anywhere in Concord so feel free to check it out in person or explore more on their website. It looks like they have updated some features over there lately, with new playground equipment that will keep your kids entertained for hours! If you want something less crowded than Mount Diablo State Park but still has lots of space for hiking and picnicking then this reservoir might be just what you need!

There are plenty of picnic tables and grills for you to use, which makes it easy when you’re packing your lunch. The playground equipment has been updated recently too! The atmosphere is very relaxing as well- don't forget to bring a book or some kindle paperwhite with you while enjoying all that nature offers! We recommend bringing binoculars too because there might be an opportunity for bird watching. This is one of those spots where the kids can run around without having their parents worry about them getting into trouble. Great family outing spot! Bring your bike too, and you can enjoy the trails that are open to bikes.
